Драматург, один из наиболее популярных в истории Бродвея [Broadway]. Его комедии, начиная с середины 1960-х, широко ставятся в театрах и на телевидении. Пьесы Саймона зачастую граничат с эксцентричными фарсами: "Босиком по парку" ["Barefoot in the Park"] (1963), "Странная пара" ["The Odd Couple"] (1965), "Солнечные мальчики" ["The Sunshine Boys"] (1972), "Воспоминания о Брайтон-Бич" ["Brighton Beach Memoirs"], "Женщины Джейка" ["Jake's Women"] (1991), "Затерявшись в Йонкерсе" ["Lost In Yonkers"] (1990) - Пулитцеровская премия [Pulitzer Prize], "Смех на двадцать третьем этаже" ["Laughter on the Twenty-third Floor"] (1993) и др.
